#17 - Henry Rifle, Martial Serial Number Range & Scabbard
#3721. 44 rimfire caliber. 24" octagon barrel. U.S. Martially marked, purchased by U.S. government for use during the Civil War. Marked C.G.C. on the right side of barrel, just ahead of breech, mark of government inspector Charles George Chapman. C.C.C. just below as a "proof" mark. Proper C.G.C. cartouche on right side of wrist. Small "c" at upper heel of butt plate. All screws on rear assembly properly marked to this firearm. Pleasing original patina to frame & butt plate. Overall patina finish to barrel. No sling swivels provided as carried in a cavalry leather scabbard of the period. This scabbard always with this firearm as there is a little red residue on left side of frame from the copper rivets used in assembly. A historic piece. ESt. $25,000-$40,000
