Late Qing period. Satin stitch on a gold ground with ascending 5-toe dragons among clouds and bats . Cuffs, collar & sleeves decorated with additional dragons. Lishui stripes at the hem. Descended in the family of Edmund Lyon/Van Voorhis Family, of Rochester, NY.Edmund Lyon (1855-1920) was a noted Rochester inventor, humanitarian, philanthropist, and manufacturer. He graduated from the University of Rochester in 1877, and then Columbia University in 1880. |
