| The Duplex Phonograph was sold by mail order and was successful until it ran afoul of Victor's laywers. The concept was that you got more sound out of two horns and a soundbox with two diaphragms. Technically, the diaphragms are in opposition, so they tend to fight one another, but from the standpoint of appearance and sheer size, the Duplex was one of the most spectacular of all talking machines. They are frequently incomplete, but this one comes with two original horns and the correct original soundbox. |
