Catalogue Note: After the Revolution, on September 21, 1785, the first highway legislation passed by the Pennsylvania General Assembly provided for the laying out of a state highway from western Cumberland County to Pittsburgh. Legislation continued to be enacted which created more roads in Pennsylvania, establishing the precursors of many current highways. |
