Carl Wuermer (American, 1900-1981)
Car Wuermer was born in Munich, Germany, and immigrated to the United States in 1915. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League in New York. His work was included in annual exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago as well as the National Academy of Design, where he won the prestigious J. Francis Murphy Memorial Prize in 1928. By 1929, he was accepted as a member of the Grand Central Art Galleries in New York City. His work is included in the collections of the High Museum of Art and the Wichita Art Museum.
