Ten George III Silver Dinner Plates, Heming, 1762

Shaped circular with gadrooned rims, the borders engraved with a crest below a Baron's coronet, the wells later engraved with a coat-of-arms and the reverses with presentation inscription 'Jennie King Mellon / From / Sarah Cordelia Mellon / Christmas 1925', with scratch weights 169 ozt. The crest engraved on the borders of the present lot is that of Harbord for Harbord Harbord, 1st Baron Suffield (1734-1810) of Gunton Hall, Norwich. The later coat-of-arms to the center is that of Jennie Taylor King Mellon (1870-1938) and her husband Richard Beatty Mellon (1858-1933).
