Circa 1921. The yellow brass marine case is stamped on the back 'Chelsea Clock Co. 133729'. It is also stamped on the interior 'B&O M1', presumably for the B&O Railroad. Engraved, silvered dial, retailer 'Ball Watch Co., Cleveland'. Movement stamped '121805'. Note: The Ball watch company was originated by Webb Ball who was instrumental in creating a time service for the railroads. The new standards were instituted to avoid future disasters caused by timing issues. This clock is listed on the Chelsea museum's list of the 284 12-inch dial clocks produced by Chelsea. |
