Provenance Note: Marjorie Hemmendinger was a renowned collector and promoter of George Nakashima's work, particularly in the Hollin Hills community. Hemmendinger, an economist turned gallerist, opened the Full Circle Gallery in Old Town, Alexandria, where she showcased Nakashima's furniture pieces. She played a crucial role in popularizing Nakashima's work, organizing one-man shows for the designer and selling many of his pieces to collectors. Hemmendinger's own home featured an impressive collection of Nakashima's work, which she carefully curated. Although Marjorie Hemmendinger passed away in 2020, her legacy in promoting Nakashima's work continues to be celebrated. |
