Details:

Louis Charles Moeller American, 1855-1930)
Louis Henry Charles Moeller was an American painter celebrated for his detailed genre scenes, particularly of elderly men in refined Victorian interiors. Born in New York, he studied at the National Academy of Design and later in Munich under Frank Duveneck, Ludwig Lofftz, and Feodor Dietz, where he was influenced by 17th-century Dutch masters. Moeller began his career as a decorative painter before gaining acclaim for his anecdotal, finely rendered works. He won prizes at the National Academy of Design exhibitions in 1884 and 1893, and became an Associate Member after receiving the Hallgarten Prize for his painting “Puzzled.” He lived and worked primarily in New York and New Jersey.
