Wilson Marlatt (American, 1837-1911)
Wilson Marlatt was an American landscape painter and photographer active in New York and Pennsylvania. Initially working as a photographer in Harrisburg and later in Hornellsville, NY, Marlatt eventually shifted his focus entirely to painting, establishing a studio in Buffalo’s White Building by 1884. He later moved to Rochester in 1897, where he frequently exhibited alongside his son, artist H. Irving Marlatt, both in the U.S. and internationally. His work was featured in notable exhibitions, including a large joint show in Rochester in 1908. Marlatt passed away in 1911 and is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Rochester, NY.
