Details:
Clyde Aspevig (American, b. 1951)
Clyde Aspevig is an American painter celebrated for his loose, realistic depictions of the vast landscapes of Wyoming and Montana. Born and raised on a wheat farm in Rudyard, Montana, Aspevig draws inspiration from the unspoiled beauty of the American West and from artists such as Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, and Anders Zorn. Known for emphasizing light and atmosphere over detail, he describes his paintings as a “spiritual communion with nature.” Though originally trained as an art educator, Aspevig’s self-taught mastery has earned him numerous honors, including the Frederic Remington Award and the Robert M. Lougheed Memorial Award from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. A member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group, he was the first Montana artist since Charles Russell to exhibit at Grand Central Art Galleries in New York City. He currently lives outside Bozeman, Montana with his artist wife, Carol Guzman.
