Harriet Greif (American, 1924-1988)
Harriet Greif was a New York City-born painter and educator whose work evolved from figure studies to bold, color-saturated abstract landscapes inspired by space, sea, sky, and light. She studied at Columbia University and earned a certificate from Cooper Union in 1946 before relocating to Buffalo, where she taught at the Albright Art School. Greif exhibited widely, including at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Rome’s Museum of Modern Art, and received honors such as the F.T. Coppins Award and the Patteran Prize.
