Details:
Keith Vaughan (British, 1912-1977)
Keith Vaughan was a British modernist painter known for restrained abstractions of male nudes, landscapes, and architectural forms. Largely self-taught, he fused the structural influences of Paul Cezanne, Georges Braque, and Nicolas de Stael into a highly personal visual language, emerging within the postwar Neo-Romantic circle before turning increasingly toward abstraction. An influential teacher at leading London art schools, his legacy is further preserved in his posthumously published journals and in major collections including the Tate and the Manchester Art Gallery.
