Details:
Charles Octave Levy (French, 1820-1899)
Charles Octave Levy was a French sculptor born in Paris, known for his allegorical and biblical figure sculptures. He trained under the sculptor Armand Toussaint (1806-1862), which grounded his work in the academic traditions of 19th-century French sculpture. Levy exhibited regularly at the French Salon from 1873 to 1898, earning a third-class prize in 1889. Several of his most accomplished works were sent directly to the United States without being shown at the Salons, reflecting his international appeal.
