Iznik Polychrome Painted Pottery Deep Dish

Islamic, Ottoman Empire (15th - 17th century). On short foot, decorated in under glaze with green, cobalt blue, bright turquoise, relief opaque red, and black outline motifs. Designed with tulips and rosettes. Border with stylized pattern of waves breaking on rocks. From the collection of Alexandre Inbert (1865-1943), a notable French antiques dealer and art collector who specialized in Islamic art, including iznik ceramics. Rome, No. 2042.
