Early American Documents, Bill of Sale for an Enslaved Woman

Iron-gall ink on paper. Documents include:
Recital of conveyances, dated August 14, 1752, tracing the chain of title for fifty acres of land in New Castle [County] originally granted by Sir Edmond Andros in 1676, with subsequent transfers through John, James Read, Edward Ston, William Howston, and others.
"Instructions given by Alexander Spotswood, Esqr., Postmaster General of all His Majesties Dominions in North America," addressed to a postal route deputy in New York concerning carriage of letters and remittance of postage.
Bill of sale for an enslaved woman, dated 14 [month] 1827, signed by John Vanderbelt of Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey, conveying "my Negro Woman named Margaret or Peg" to James I. Lawrence of Upper Freehold for ninety dollars. Witnessed by Hendrick Covenhoven and Mary Ann Hall.
