Details:
Claire Shuttleworth was a Buffalo, New York-born artist, portrait miniaturist, teacher, and musician whose academically trained work earned international recognition through exhibitions across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Working in oils, watercolor, and pencil, she is particularly celebrated for her more than 100 paintings of Niagara Falls, the Niagara River, and surrounding landscapes, which she considered her life’s work and are valued as important visual records of the region. Shuttleworth’s deep connection to Niagara, cultivated at her summer studio “Minglestreams” in Chippawa, Ontario, is reflected in her sensitive portrayals of the river’s changing moods, seasons, colors, and majestic beauty.
