| Porcelain painted in famille rose enamels over a pale celadon-toned (dongqing) ground, the applied handles and the mouth rim gilt. The reverse inscribed in black enamel with a four-column poem, reading in part 'zuo shi zhu yan tai du nong / chun feng man mian fa mei hong / dang shi zhi yong dan qing bi / xiu chu ren jian mei feng rong', followed by a signature column in smaller characters, with a further short inscription in three columns on the neck between the handles. Applied with an old red-bordered dealer's label inscribed 'P.50 Chinese Famille Rose 22 x 8 1/2" C-1850-' and a small white label lettered 'CH 41'. |
